Take the Black podcast: Favorite Game of Thrones fan theories

Welcome back to another edition of Take the BlackWinter is Coming’s official Game of Thrones podcastThis week, after touching on the news that GoT composer Ramin Djawadi will be headlining a 28-city live concert tour, we discuss our favorite favorite Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire fan theories.

Each member of Take the Black—including WiCnet’s Editor in Chief, Dan Selcke—chose a Game of Thrones fan theory, either from the show or the books, and explained the details behind it. We did not cover theories that have already been disproved on the show, or theories that have been borne out, like R+L=J. Here’s a few of the things we have in store for you:

  • Are Brienne and Hodor related to each other?
  • Do ice dragons exist in this universe, and if so, might there be one closer than we think?
  • At what point do Bran’s powers to see into/alter the past become indistinguishable from time travel, and what crazy things might he do with them? More importantly, what crazy things might he already have done?
  • Is there more to the Mad King’s downfall than meets the eye?
  • Is Varys a merman? No, really, is he? I’m not insane. You’re insane.

And this and sekret Targaryens, too! Also: does D+D=T? (Listen to find out more about that one, and possibly laugh uncontrollably.)

As usual, Take the Black leans on the NSFW side (beware F-bombs). Because we discuss book theories, there are some minor spoilers for A Song of Ice and Fire, and even though the Lady Isis and Lord Thone are not book-readers, they did their homework for this particular project, so beware the spoilers.

On a serious note: Lady Isis suffered a tragic loss in her family last week, and we here at WiCnet and Take the Black wish to extend our deepest condolences. The loss of a loved one is never easy, but like the trooper she is, Isis was on this week’s podcast, surrounded by her friends and making us laugh. We love you, Isis.
