The Emmys are the gift that keeps on giving. The production won a boatload of awards at the ceremony this past weekend, and we’re still finding interviews where cast and crew members tease the upcoming season of Game of Thrones. That’s the hazard of going to a big industry event: reporters are going to shove microphones in your face, and you have to say something.
Happily for her, Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth) is good at not spilling the beans. “I’m like a vault,” she joked to Access Hollywood. “I really am able to keep it on lockdown.” But Christie still described what we can expect from Season 7 in a general way, and it’s enough to get us curious.
"I think that people are going to get the sorts of—as ever, but it’s slightly different this year—the sorts of surprises they really don’t expect. And they’re also gonna get what they’ve always wanted."
If you’re on this site, you probably know that we spend a lot of time speculating about what’s going to happen on Game of Thrones. But the best surprises are the ones we don’t see coming. For example, as much buzz as there was going in to Season 6, few saw Hodor’s death coming. If we get more unexpected surprises like that, I’ll be a happy camper.
You’ve also gotta admire Christie’s bluntness when asked to spoil something. Interviewer: “Can you give us any hints about where Brienne and Pod are going in that little boat?” Christie: “No.” Says it all.
Finally, apparently we should all keep an eye on Hannah Murray. Who knows when she’ll spill something?
