Game of Thrones George R.R. Martin Box

A special illustrated edition of A Game of Thrones, the first book in George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire trilogy, will be released soon. Now, publisher Random House is trying to pump up the hype further. Yesterday, Martin’s minions announced on the author’s Not a Blog that the illustrated edition, in addition to being sold separately, will be bundled in with a selection of boxed sets which also contain several other Game of Thrones goodies.

As part of the celebration Random House is releasing not only the book itself, which is fully illustrated and leather bound, but also three special LIMITED editions that will include exclusive hand picked items in a gorgeous wooden display box.

According to the minions, Random House will host a live unboxing event at some point today on its its Facebook page, so stay tuned. The event will show off all three versions of what is called “the George R.R. Martin box”: the Special Edition, the Limited Edition, and the Ultra Limited Edition.

If you’re going to attend the New York Comic Con (October 6-9), you can get a up-close look at the George R.R. Martin Box—it’ll be at the Penguin Random House booth. If you’re interested in purchasing a box for yourself, then don’t delay, as they will only be available for a short time. There are only 200 of the Ultra Limited Editions available, and Random House is giving away a free House Stark ornament to the first 1,000 pre-orders, so get on over to the site and place an order before it’s too late!

Here’s a list of what will be included in each of the George R.R. Martin boxes:

  • I guess there are those still interested in the books and stuff. But honestly, why does he bother with these degrading money grabs. I for one gave up on the books long ago. This would have made a great trilogy as he intended, but when he decided to include spin offs, sequels, prequels, side stories, etc. in the main story, I lost interest. I prefer the shows over the books, and think they could have trimmed/changed even more of the fat than they did to make it all fit into 6 or 7 seasons. I don’t beleive GRRM will ever finish the series and I have no interest in reading or buying any of the printed material in the future. I kind of feel sorry for those that will snap these up, thus encouraging him to fart around even more with GoT themed crapola. Pretty sure he’s hard at work with GoT condoms, toilet paper, and dog food instead of writing for those of you who care. Maybe you should simply boycot all this stuff until he actually puts out a new book? Just a thought :)

  • Wowwww…… but i want the special edition of The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring.

    Is that possible. George..???

  • special.limited, ultra special 20 year old book in unfinished series, series that took dive in quality after 3rd book and writer who is unable to wrap up series in any meaningful way….but buy it and get all that crap that has nothing to do with literature …..

how many real books can one buy for 75,200 or 600$ ?

600$ is more than enough to buy low end 40 inch TV & bluray player & 5 seasons GAME OF THRONES bluray discs

  • Gotta love marketing. You only need to buy the damn novels once. Anything more, you’ve become a sucker.

  • I would be interested in a deluxe box set – once all the books are completed.

Until then, might as well be pissing in the wind to buy anything else book related.

  • I’m pretty much convinced this is nothing more then a publisher in a damage control mode. Apparently they don’t believe as well the series will ever be finished, so they are trying to milk as much as possible out of it before it all falls down.

  • Saw a live unboxing from Penguin Random House yesterday, stuff looked like rubbish. I mean yeah it’s neat and all but seriously, let’s try and get these “last two” novels out before GRRM dies. God forbid he decide that 7 isn’t enough and needs an 8th book to wrap it all up…

  • why not stop dicking about n churning out more random shite George……and finish the books you money grabbing whore. Youre starting to make me angry………..you wont lime me when im angry. ffs!!!!!
