New reports out of Spain suggest that three of the upcoming filming locales—Ituzrun Beach in Zumaia, Muriola Beach in Barrika, and the shores of San Juan de Gaztelugatxe in Bermeo—all stand in for the same location. Spanish-language fansite Los Siete Reinos has a brand new passel of rumors ahead of filming on Muriola Beach, which is slated for filming next Wednesday and Thursday, and is closed to the public ahead of time. The production is loading in there now:
At first we thought that the production might be filming three separate scenes at these separate beaches, perhaps three different places Daenerys would attack with her naval forces. But according to LSR, all three beachheads are part of the same scene, just different angles and shots.
As to which scene, well, that we’ll put below the SPOILER ALERT.
THE SPOILER ALERT
I, I’ve been thinking, I’ve been thinking
I, I could spoil the world today
Everybody dies, we anoint their eyes and we dance like angels do
Writing out your name, little shapes that feign some knowledge of you
LSR does not have final confirmation of this, but believes that the three beaches will all stand in for Dragonstone, last seen in Season 4 when Stannis was stationed there. It would make sense for Dany’s fleet to land here after crossing the Narrow Sea, since it was her family’s ancestral home. (It’s also a quick sail from Essos, and lies in striking distance of King’s Landing.) No one really wants Dany to go to Dorne, Stannis and his family are dead, and few if any people likely remain on the island. It would be easy for Dany to take it over once her sea voyage is over.
Also, Watchers on the Wall has heard that Daenerys will use the island fortress as a home base this year, so everything seems to be falling into place.
The actors have already started to arrive in the area, such as Peter Dinklage (Tyrion).
Obviously, Tyrion would be involved in Daenerys scenes. Enjoy the beach, Mr. Dinklage.
LSR has heard other rumors, too, although of them are as solid. For example, it hears that the production has damaged a part of the striking flysch rock formation in Zumaia. But according to LSR, even if that is true, the damage is mostly minor, and can be taken care of by HBO.
Another big rumor, one that LSR stresses is unconfirmed: Kit Harington may film on these beaches. If true, that means he would likely interact with Daenerys.
Oh, I’m sorry, did you fall over? Here, have a chair.
Again, LSR stresses that it has NO confirmation or evidence of that rumors. But we’re going to keep our eyes peeled for any sight of Harington in Spain.
Meanwhile, Europa Press reports that the the Castillo de Almodóvar del Río, another Spanish filming location, will be closed to the public November 4-16. Filming in Spain is imminent.
