Walder Frey kisses Robb Stark in Netflix show and people have Red Wedding déjà vu

It’s a moment that we never thought we’d see following the harrowing events of the Red Wedding, but it looks as if Robb Stark and Walder Frey have finally kissed and made up. Literally.

This surprising clip comes from new Netflix series Medici: Masters of Florence, in which our dearly departed King in the North, Richard Madden, plays the central role of Cosimo de Medici, ruler of Florence during the Italian Renaissance. This role follows his turn as the prince in Disney’s Cinderella, and a stint as Romeo Montague in Branagh Theatre Live’s Romeo and Juliet. It seems that Madden has a knack for embodying wealthy noblemen.

To make matters weirder and funnier, actor David Bradley, who played Walder Frey on Thrones, plays Alessandro di Sozzo Bardi, Cosimo’s father-in-law. As we all know, Walder Frey had once hoped to be Robb Stark’s father-in-law before Robb decided he’d rather marry Talisa. I guess he finally got what he wanted. The folk over at Netflix must have a sense of humor.
