The worst part of moving is having to moving your washing machine. It’s usually upstairs, it’s always heavy and it’s always a tight fit.
Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson (Gregor “the Mountain” Clegane) does not suffer such problems. How do we know? Because Björnsson recently attempted to break the world record for tossing a washing machine. Björnsson came up short, but we’d still ask for his help moving if we were friends.
Moving on, Finn Jones (Loras Tyrell) might have gone up in flames in the Game of Thrones Season 6 finale, but Jones had already secured a new gig before Loras’ untimely death: as the titular superhero in Marvel’s newest Netflix series, Iron Fist. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Jones revealed not his audition for Iron Fist happened on his last day on the Game of Thrones set. He also called Marvel “100 times more secretive than” Thrones, and commented on the differences between the fans.
"I find the comic book audience a lot more intense than the fantasy one, definitely. It’s been cool. There’s been a great response when I’ve been out and about and people realize I’m playing Iron Fist. It’s made me realize that loads of people actually read comic books over here and loads of people are into martial arts."
We have a hard time believing Marvel is that much more secretive than the notoriously clandestine Game of Thrones team, but okay.
Elsewhere, Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) also has a new project. She’s joined the cast of Early Man, a stop-motion animated comedy as “Goona, the gallant and indomitable rebel who befriends the film’s hero Dug (Eddie Redmayne), and helps steer him through the clash of the Stone Age and Bronze Age civilisations.”
The film is directed by Nick Park, best known as the creator of Wallace and Gromit. “Maisie is a terrific actress,” Park said, “and she is of course no stranger to embodying a valiant heroine.”
Tom Hiddleston also stars, as Lord Nooth. The movie is due out January 2018.
Lastly, don’t forget that Pedro Pascal (the late Oberyn Martell) will soon be starring alongside Matt Damon in The Great Wall, an action-adventure film about the real purpose of the Great Wall of China.
See? History.
Pascal portrays a mercenary named Pero Tovar, and was the only actor to whom producers offered the role. Similar to Jones’ experience on Iron Fist, Pascal was cast not long after his character’s death on Game of Thrones. Producers described the timing as “fortunate,” which is an interesting way to describe getting your head squashed.
The Great Wall hits theaters February 17th.
