Game of Thrones protest signs show up at Woman’s March

This past Saturday, the day after President Donald Trump was inaugurated as the 45th president of the United States, people held women’s marches in various cities throughout the country. Oddly enough, plenty of Game of Thrones-themed protest signs made their way into the mix. A sampling:

That’s a nice reworking of the Stark sigil.

As you can see below, the Lannisters were invoked fairly often.

I wonder if these people coordinated or if the line about Lannisters always paying their debts just spoke to people.

On that theme, plenty of people invoked comparisons between President Trump and some of the less popular rulers of Westeros.

And some just repurposed slogans from the show.

If you look behind the “Valar Morghulis” sign, you’ll notice a sign with what looks like a red Targaryen sigil on it. To what end? Unclear, but it’s there.

People also did a lot with the term “snowflakes,” a derogatory name for young liberals. It’s almost too easy to make the “Winter is Coming” connection.

Finally, fans are reaching out to Melania Trump with a reference to Brienne’s vigil in Game of Thrones Season 5.

"Help her! from freefolk"

I like the obscurity of that one.

Wherever you fall on the political spectrum, it’s neat that Game of Thrones has this much cultural penetration.
