Maisie Williams on Game of Thrones spoilers: “It’s sad. It really annoys me.”

These days, when Maisie Williams isn’t jetting to awards ceremonies, she’s busy promoting her new movie, iBoy, out now on Netflix. During a promotional interview with Radio Times, the conversation turned to Game of Thrones, as it tends to do, and Williams offered her opinion on the plethora of Season 7 spoilers that are floating about on the internet. “It really, really upsets me,” she said. “Because, there’s only a certain group of people who’d look at that anyway, compared to the audience that watches the show. It hurts. It’s just like, oh we wanted to tell this story, and yeah, lots of people don’t want to read it, and don’t want to look at it.”

"But then it’s even more annoying when you know [the leaks] might be from someone on the inside, and it’s just like… you’re trying to make something really cool, that is really cool, and people really like, and it’s like ‘stop ruining it’."

Williams could be referring to any number of things here, from a Reddit leak that purportedly describes Season 7 in detail to more generalized spoilers that have been leaking out for months. “It’s such a childish, annoying thing to do,” she continued. “And yeah, it’s sad. It really annoys me.”

Luckily for Williams, production on the seventh and penultimate season of the series is winding down, so she won’t have to safeguard its secrets much longer. As the series approaches an ending, she’s thinking of life beyond Arya.

"I’m excited because it means I can do absolutely anything I want. I could go away for three years and… travel the world, or I could write a film… I could do anything, and it’s quite exciting."

Bill Milner, Williams’ costar in iBoy, also spoke of his desire to appear in Game of Thrones. “Oh my God, I wanna be in Game of Thrones so badly,” he said. “Even just like to be in one scene where my head got chopped off.” To Williams, he added, “Please tell them. Please tell them all.”

Millner is far from the first actor to try (and fail) to get a bit part on Game of Thrones—perhaps his friendship with Williams will help his chances.

iBoy is now available to watch worldwide on streaming service Netflix.
