Game of Thrones and other HBO shows now available through FandangoNOW digital service
Most people probably know Fandango as a way to buy movie tickets, but the company also has its own digital video-on-demand (VOD) service called FandangoNow. Like iTunes, Amazon Prime and Vudu, FandongoNow offers users the option to stream a plethora of movies and TV shows. According to Variety, it’s now offering several shows from HBO, including Game of Thrones. It’s now available to watch in more places than ever.
In addition to Game of Thrones, FandangoNow users will also be able to see HBO shows like The Sopranos, Girls, Divorce and Insecure, as well as mini-series like The Night Of and Band of Brothers. Under the deal struck between HBO and NBCUniversal (which owns Fandango), more shows will debut in the coming weeks, including Ballers, Silicon Valley, Veep, True Detective, and The Newsroom.
HBO entertainment vice president Sofia Chang weighed in:
"Fandango is a leader in the category for their ability to market to entertainment enthusiasts through their digital network. This partnership allows us to expand our EST [electronic sell-through] offering to HBO fans across a wide variety of devices."
FandangoNow came about when Fandango acquired movie-streaming service M-GO from Dreamworks Animation and Technicolor in 2016. One quick rebranding session and later and boom: iTunes has a new competitor. The newly rebranded service now offers over 40,000 movies and next-day television shows for rent or purchase.
Also, Fandango is currently running a promotion where if you buy one season of Game of Thrones through FandangoNow, you can get an additional season for 50% off!
Feel free to pop over to FandangoNow to see what else the service is offering. FandangoNOW is available through Roku, XBOX ONE, Samsung, LG, Androidtv, Chromecast, Vizio, Hisense, the App Store and Google Play.
