Sophie Turner attended the British Academy Film Awards (the BAFTAs) this past weekend, and dropped an important nugget of information about Sansa Stark’s future while on the red carpet. Beware minor SPOILERS in the video below.
The money quote comes not long after the interviewer asks Turner what’s coming next in her career, around 0:50.
"We’re about to start shooting the next X-Men, we just finished shooting season 7 of Thrones, and I’ve got a couple of movies to do before X-Men starts, and then we go on to season 8! So I’ve got a busy year lined up."
“And then we go to season 8.” What does that mean? That Sansa Stark survives season 7.
As a main character, many fans probably already figured Sansa would at least make it through season 7, but as the show gets closer to an ending, we can’t afford to assume that anyone is safe. Turner herself suggested that not all of the characters would run the final lap when she was at the Emmys last year.
“We’ve got one more season…well, not all of us.” That’ll keep Game of Thrones up at night.
Anyway, this would seem to take some of the pressure off fans nervous about Sansa’s fate. After all, last we left her, she was heading for a battle of wills with Littlefinger in Winterfell, and you can never trust that guy.
