Each March, Comic Relief puts on a massive, star-studded telethon in the UK to raise money for charity. It’s called Red Nose Day, and it’s a big deal. Game of Thrones actors have been involved with it before, most notably in 2015 when a bunch of them appeared in a musical parody of the show written by Coldplay. Because that video can’t be replayed enough, here it is again:
Maisie Williams (Arya) didn’t appear in that particular Red Nose Day event, but she’s throwing in with the cause this year by fronting a t-shirt campaign from fashion and portrait photographer Rankin, who turned designer for this project. “I designed this range especially for Comic Relief with my love for animals in mind,” Rankin said. “I wanted to be able to put a fun and creative spin on classic images for this specific campaign to put a smile on people’s faces for Red Nose Day and encourage everyone to make their laugh matter.”
The shirts will be available for retail at T.K. Maxx (formerly T.J. Maxx) and online at rednoseday.com. There are nine different animals designs in all. The shirts come in sizes for men, women, boys, girls and babies, and range in price from £7.99 to £14.99, with chunks of that price going to Comic Relief. ” The money raised from each t-shirt will make a real difference to the lives of people living in poverty across Africa and the UK,” said Red Nose Day director Emma Freud.
Red Nose Day will be landing in America on May 25, so those on this side of the pond will get a chance to help out, too!
Pivoting a bit, we also have some specifics regarding HBO’s new partnership with Major League Baseball. The two organizations will team up to promote Game of Thrones season 7 when it airs this summer. Now, at least one team has revealed how it’s going to go about that: the Milwaukee Brewers will hold a Game of Thrones theme night at Miller Park on August 15.
I’m going to quote an article on the subject from On Milwaukee, because it works overtime to squeeze in as many GoT references as possible:
"The House Brewers of Milwaukee will send their regards to the wildling Pirates from beyond the wall of Pittsburgh, as Lord Counsell leads his team onto the battlefield in an epic struggle for the seven kingdoms."
Attendees will also receive “a limited edition Brewers Game of Thrones-themed item.” Play ball.
