Game of Thrones season 6 nominated for Location Managers Guild Award
The Location Managers Guild has announced the nominees for the 4th Annual LMGI Awards, and Game of Thrones is hot on the trail of another sparkly statue. Thrones location managers Matt Jones and Naomi Liston are nominated in the Outstanding Locations in a Period Television Series category, alongside Pat Karam and Robert Bentley for The Crown, Nicole Noelle Chartrand and Robert Murdoch for The Man in the High Castle, Tony Holley for Stranger Things and Mandi Dillin for Westworld.
Per the LGMI website:
"The awards honor productions in feature films, television programs and commercials from around the globe, in which the creative use of filming locations enhances or helps to drive the storyline."
Balloting submissions ended at midnight on March 14, and the winners will be announced at a ceremony on Saturday, April 8 in the Steven J. Ross Theater in Burbank, California. Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, Slumdog Millionaire) will be among the honorees in attendance.
As a show that features many spectacular landscapes, it’s no surprise that Game of Thrones has been nominated for (and won) three LMGI awards in the past. Robert Boake and Tate Araez won the Outstanding Locations in Period Television award for their work on season 5. Boake, on his lonesome, also won the Outstanding Achievement in Television award for his contributions to season 3, while Game of Thrones as a whole won the award for Outstanding Locations in Television the same year.
