Gwendoline Christie (Brienne) joins t-shirt campaign for Red Nose Day
By Dan Selcke
Red Nose Day, a biannual telethon dedicated to raising funds for British charity Comic Relief, is around the corner. On March 24, comedians, singers, and more will take to the airwaves to raise money that will “make a real difference to the lives of people living in poverty across Africa and the UK,” according to Red Nose Day director Emma Freud. Game of Thrones cast members have been involved with Red Nose Day before, most notably when they collaborated with Coldplay to create a hilarious musical based on the show. Because that video deserves to be replayed as often as possible, here it is again:
Not every cast member was involved in that project, but several of them are making up for lost time. A few weeks back, Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) appeared in promotions for a new line of t-shirts designed by fashion-photographer-turned-designer Rankin — much of the sales revenue for those shirts will go toward Comic Relief. “I designed this range especially for Comic Relief with my love for animals in mind,” Rankin said. “I wanted to be able to put a fun and creative spin on classic images for this specific campaign to put a smile on people’s faces for Red Nose Day and encourage everyone to make their laugh matter.”
Now, Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth) has gotten in on the campaign. Check her out in one of the shirts below.
There are nine animals designs in all — the shirts are available through retail at T.K. Maxx stores (or on the T.K. Maxx website) and at through RedNoseDay.com (here’s the link to the Red Nose Day shop).
Hopefully Comic Relief will raise a bundle before and on March 24. For those on the other side of the pond, an American version of Red Nose Day will hit on May 24.
