Game of Thrones stars show off season 7 outfits in HBO promo

HBO aired a promo in front of the Big Little Lies finale on Sunday night, and several Game of Thrones stars popped by and say hello…well, “ahh.”

The likes of Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister), Emila Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen), Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark), Isaac Hempstead Wright (Bran Stark) and Kit Harington (Jon Snow) are all prominently featured alongside other folks from the network. Check it out below:

The gimmick here is that everyone’s trying to approximate the noise that plays before every HBO show. You know the one:

The interesting thing here is that the Game of Thrones actors are wearing the outfits they’ll presumably be sporting in season 7. Let’s see if there’s anything noteworthy in there.

Jaime and his golden hand lead the way. No big change there.

Dany’s up next, sporting a red cape with a silver chain, the same thing she’s wearing in the recently released season 7 promo trailer. Naturally, when she raises her finger to speak, dragons roar.

Then there’s Tormund. He’s wearing standard-issue wildling rags, but there’s a nasty-looking cut on his forehead. So far as we can tell, he didn’t have that at the end of the Battle of the Bastards. Has he been getting into scraps?

Next we have Sansa, sporting a new clasp on her cloak.

Bran and Jon look to wearing approximately the same things they were wearing in the season 6 finale — all heavy cloaks and animal furs. Bran’s warging out, of course.

And finally, we have an elaborate zoom-out starting with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and ending with the HBO log, featuring a whole bunch of special guests along the way.

We saw several Game of Thrones cast members dressed in their GoT best in that collage, including:

  • Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy)
  • Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister)
  • Nathalie Emmanuel (Missandei)
  • Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister)

See anybody we didn’t? Let us know.

As this is coming so close on the heels of the season 7 promo trailer, we can’t help but wonder if there’s more press to follow. The HBO Game of Thrones hype machine may be clanging to life. We’ll see what it produces between now and when season 7 premieres on July 16.
