Nathalie Emmanuel (Missandei): The security on Game of Thrones is becoming even tighter

Security on Game of Thrones has grown tighter with each season, and it sound like that will continue. Nathalie Emmanuel (Missandei) spoke to Fabulous Magazine about how the producers are particularly careful to keep the show’s secrets now that it’s gone beyond the text of George R.R. Martin’s novels. “They’ve definitely tightened up who has scripts and how we’re given them,” she said. “You have to look at it digitally.”

"They won’t send it to us unless our emails have a two-step verification [security process]. You might get given rehearsal notes on set, but you have to sign for and return them before you leave. If you don’t, people will chase you until you give them back!"

Of course, even these heightened security members didn’t stop certain spoilers from leaking from the set of Game of Thrones season 7. Emmanuel made her feelings about that pretty clear during filming last year:

And it doesn’t stop fans from asking about what’s coming. Emmanuel got an earful of that when everyone was wondering whether Jon Snow was really dead ahead of season 6. “I was so sick of people asking me about it. We’re not allowed to say but I also wouldn’t want to.”

Apart from spoilers, Emmanuel also talked about embracing her status as a celebrity — on top of being on Game of Thrones, she also recently starred in the hugely successful Fate of the Furious. “I used to run away from it, but as the years have gone on I’ve realised it’s people expressing their appreciation of your work or the show you’re on.”

Emmanuel and the rest of her castmates return to HBO when Game of Thrones season 7 premieres on July 16.
