Get paid to talk about Game of Thrones in this focus group

Here’s what’s sure to be a bit of a dream come true for some fans: according to casting website Project Casting, Elevator Casting is looking for people to give feedback about what they like most about Game of Thrones, and it’s looking to pay them $647 for the privilege. Here’s the summary:

"If you’re a big fan of Game of Thrones and you want to get paid to talk all your favorite characters and moments in the show, we want to hear from you! We are looking for participants for a SKYPE focus group which will take place THIS FRIDAY 6/16. Participants can live anywhere in the US. If chosen for the Skype, participants will receive $647 for their time."

So there are restrictions. Elevator Casting is only looking for people in the US, for one thing. Also, it wants people between the ages of 18 and 30, no doubt to hit that coveted youth demographic. Also, you have to have Skype, but if you don’t, it’s not hard to get.

There’s also the matter of time. This is going down tomorrow, so if you want to be considered, email sarah.elevatorcasting@gmail.com post-haste. Here’s what the company is requesting you send:

"NameAgePhone number AND emailOccupationA brief intro about you, what you love about Game of Thrones, who some of your favorites characters are and why.2-3 Recent photos (selfies and social media type pics are great, at least 1 pic that clearly shows your face)"

I’m spitballing here, but I wonder if there’s more to this focus group than just gathering opinions. The fact that it has to be on Skype is curious. Also, Project Casting calls this a “casting call,” which is a little misleading for people hoping to snag a role on the show. But I wonder if Elevator Casting, which does a lot of commercials, wants to record people praising the show for some kind of promotional effort.

Anyway, the worst case scenario is that fans send in applications and nothing happens. Best case scenario: you get paid hundreds of dollars to talk about why Jon Snow is so inspiring. There are probably worse ways to spend your Friday.
