Kit Harington on Jon Snow in season 7: “He’s in mortal danger like anyone else”

The Great War is upon us, and no one should feel safe. Case in point: When talking with SFX Magazine during its visit to the season 7 set, Kit Harington (Jon Snow) did not feel entirely confident about his character’s chances of survival, as reported by SFX’s sister publication Games Radar. Filming season 7 felt different from filming season 6, as Harington explained:

"I felt safe in season 6 because I thought it would be bad storytelling to kill me in the [same] season I’d been resurrected! But as for seasons beyond 6, it’s back to business. He’s in mortal danger like anyone else."

It’s true that season 6 went well for a lot of characters, but considering what show we’re watching, we may not want to get used to it. “I think there is an optimism in 7, definitely at the start,” Harington said. “At the end of 6, being crowned King in the North, there’s a small smile on his face.

"He can start getting stuff done, and start trying to save people and protect people, and do what he’s been trying to do for ages. I mean, it’s maybe not optimism – the world’s fucking ending!"

With the end of the world crammed into seven episodes this year and only six in season 8, no character should feel safe, regardless of popularity.

These quotes from Harington are pulled from a new issue of SFX Magazine due out tomorrow, June 20. With the Night King adorning the cover, there could be further dark portents inside.
