Thousands Turn Out for Extra Casting in Tudela, Spain
By Ani Bundel
On Friday, Modexpor International, Game of Thrones’ casting agency in Spain, announced that extra casting would take place this weekend in the city of Tudela, located in Navarre, Spain. We had previously reported that the area was under consideration for filming, with an eye on using Bardenas Reales Natural Park, which has striking desert landscapes that we assume are going to stand in for either Essos or Dorne. According to reports, that is now confirmed, with shooting in the park set for September.
Meanwhile, despite the short(ish) notice, the locals were ready to turn out for a part in the show. According to Metro UK, nearly 3,500 hopefuls turned out, with a camped-out overnight line that stretched half a mile long.
With casting already finished in Girona, and rumored to be happening at the end of the week in Almería, plus Peñícola also confirmed, this makes no less than four filming locations in Spain this coming season. That’s a lot of hot and sunny desert for a world where Winter is arriving any day now.
