Director David Nutter to President Obama (really): Jon Snow is dead
By Dan Selcke
Here’s something I never expected to hear David Nutter, the director of the Game of Thrones Season 5 finale, to tell Entertainment Weekly during an interview at the San Diego Comic-Con:
"“Three weeks ago, I was the in the company of the President of the United States…He turned to me, put his hand on my shoulder, and said, ‘You didn’t kill Jon Snow did you?’”"
Okay, I have so many questions. When did David Nutter have occasion to meet President Obama? What it a Game of Thrones production team field trip to the White House or did Nutter just happen to be at the right place at the right time? Also, Obama watches Game of Thrones? Does it watch it with Michelle? Where are Sasha and Malia during this?
Oh, and also Nutter answered the President.
"“I said, ‘Jon Snow is deader than dead,’…I thought I was going to be sent to Guantanamo or something, but fortunately I’m here—but he’s dead.”"

Now, I know this isn’t likely going to change any opinions regarding Jon Snow’s death. Nutter has said just this before, as has Kit Harington. “Of course Jon Snow’s dead—how else can he be resurrected,” some might say. “Jon Snow’s dead, but Jon Targaryen will return,” cry others. But really, that’s not what’s important here. What’s important is that President Obama watches Game of Thrones. That’s pretty neat. Maybe the show can squeeze him for public funding down the line.
