Comic-Con 2015: Peter Capaldi and Sean Pertwee Hang Out Backstage!

You never know who you’re going to run into at San Diego Comic-Con, even when you’re a celebrity! Yesterday, two of Third Doctor Jon Pertwee’s most famous acolytes met backstage, and to our joy, posed for a few photos together.

Sean Pertwee is, of course, Jon’s son and a successful actor in his own right. Pertwee was at Comic-Con with his Gotham castmates for the Warner Bros. television panel (where it was revealed the Joker will have a larger presence next season). Young Bruce Wayne’s butler and father-figure, Alfred Pennyworth, is played by Pertwee on the hit FOX show.

We all know Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor, whose outfit last season was inspired by the classic cape and suit worn by the Third Doctor. Capaldi even emulated Pertwee in his most famous promotional photo and recreated a classic photo when Jo Grant actress Katy Manning stopped by the TARDIS set last year:

At some point during yesterday’s Comic-Con festivities, Pertwee and Capaldi crossed paths backstage and snapped a few wonderful pictures, including this one shared by Pertwee on his Instagram page:

And this terrific shot of the duo emulating the Third Doctor again:

This isn’t the first time Sean Pertwee has channeled his famous father. Just last month, he shared this amazing photoshopped picture combining a shot of himself as Alfred with his father’s classic hairstyle:

So many amazing photos. Am I the only one who thinks Sean Pertwee needs to have a guest role on Doctor Who? Then again, his resemblance to his father is so striking, it might be difficult to explain unless he actually plays the Third Doctor. Now there’s an idea…
