HBO Shows New Westworld Footage At Comic-Con
Finally, some movement on the Westworld front! Jonathan Nolan made an unannounced appearance at Comic-Con last weekend and showed off some new footage to reassure all of us that while the series has been pushed back to 2016 (boo!), at least it’s progressing (yay!).
And while we all couldn’t be in San Diego to check it out in person, HBO was nice enough to at least release some pics on its Twitter feed. The one you see above shows James Marsden as Teddy Flood and Evan Rachel Wood as Dolores Abernathy, said to be one of the characters who figures out that Westworld isn’t real.
Next up, we’ve got Anthony Hopkins and Jeffrey Wright. The former is Dr. Robert Ford, the creator of Westworld, while the latter is Bernard Lowe, head programmer and the person who devised the park’s “artificial people.” That might mean robots or something else entirely in this series.
Thandie Newton was featured as well. She’s playing Maeve Millay, a madame of some renown. A big attraction of the park in the original Westworld is that the robots were supposed to help guests live out their … adult fantasies as well as their cowboy dreams, and I’d expect something similar in the HBO version.
Last but certainly not least is Ed Harris. His Man in Black is thought by many to be the successor to Yul Brynner’s famous Gunslinger, but we won’t know for sure until next year.
That’ll have to enough to hold you over for now. One good thing is that the faucet of information has at least been turned on. Let’s hope it keeps flowing at a semi-regular pace.
