DUH-duh-duhduh-DUH-duh-duhduh-DUH-duh-duhduh-DUH-duh…
That’s my written approximation of the Game of Thrones main title theme. Composed by Ramin Djawadi, the theme has spawned almost too many covers and parodies to count since the show debuted in 2011, and seems destined to go down in history alongside The Simpsons‘ opening tune and that infuriatingly catchy pop song from Friends as one of the most memorable theme songs in television history.
If you have a piano, or a keyboard, or a acquaintance with a piano or a keyboard, you may have tried to pick out the tune at one point or another, no doubt to the delight of anyone nearby. If you weren’t able to get it, this piano tutorial from YouTube channel PianoMania might help.
If my early-in-life piano lessons serve, and I’m far from convinced they do, the left hand is hitting a lot of Cs and Gs, with a couple of Ds, Fs, and B-flats thrown in for good measure, at least before the bridge. In other words: four of the white keys and one of the black ones. I might be able to handle that.
Here’s what it should look like when strung together.
May these videos help entertain your friends and families for many gatherings to come. Once they leave in exasperation, you can still use them to entertain yourself. Everybody wins.
