And the Best Line of Game of Thrones Season 5 is…
…Lyanna Mormont’s defiant message to Stannis.
This was actually a very tight race, with Lyanna just barely coming away with the win. In a season where Game of Thrones delivered some pretty great lines, it seems only fitting that a 10-year-old girl standing up against the self-proclaimed One True King of Westeros should come out on top.

“Out of the mouths of babes” has never been more applicable. I must admit, I was sure that Stannis’ “Go on, do your duty” would take the top spot, but at least he was involved with the winner. Many of you had some great ideas that were added to the list, with Mance Rayder and Maester Aemon being some of the most popular.
Matt said: “Best “line” has to be Aemon’s dying words. Otherwise, I would’ve voted High Sparrow for best monologue.” Great choice Matt, but then you followed that comment with: “Personally I think you guys forgot the instant classic: “You want a good girl but you need a bad pussy.” I think you meant “pooosy,” but that’s okay because you gave us a good chuckle.
Justin Buell had an excellent choice for Best Line: “You left out my two favorite lines! “We both peddle fantasies, brother Lancel. Mine just happen to be entertaining.” – Petyr Baelish And, what may be the single greatest line uttered in the English language: “The dwarf lives until we find a cock merchant.” I am shocked that neither line made the list, Littlefinger seems to always get the best lines, and “Cock Merchant” needs to be memorialized with a gold coin collection from the United States Mint.
(Note: Remember that we’ll have a “Best Exchange” poll coming up, and I wouldn’t be surprised if one of both of these lines showed up, which is to say, one or both of these lines will show up.)
For being a character that had no actual screen time, Lyanna Mormont left quite the impression. House Mormont is the perfect example of the North’s steadfast loyalty to the Starks, even though it appears that House Stark has been all but eradicated. The Mormonts also represent the strength of women in the face of adversity.
The Old Bear, Jeor Mormont, willingly went to the Wall so that his son Jorah could take his place as Lord. But, when Jorah fled Westeros because Ned Stark was coming to deliver the King’s justice for Jorah’s slave-trading, the Mormont women stood tall and proudly represented their House.
