Emilia Clarke Reported Filming In Magilligan

Sadly, there aren’t new pictures, but more accounts of people seeing filming in Magilligan have turned up. Including one reference to the area which sparked my curiosity:

So is this not the Vale, then?

I wish the tweet above were more clear that they saw Emilia Clarke filming, and I know several outlets take the tweet above as proof Emilia Clarke is there. But the tweet does not actually say the person saw her, only that the Game of Thrones shoot was filming “for her.”

But then again:

This bears a very close resemblance to the area below:

In fact, they look so similar that I’m almost ready to be convinced on the strength of those two pictures side by side.

But I have a question:

  • If this is Dany and her new Khalasar, why is there only one man on a horse?

The lack of horsemen inspired my first guess (which, considering that we have very blurry taken-from-afar photos, is admittedly a speculative guess): that this area would stand in for the North and/or the Vale. There are people in what look to be heavy black outfits. Several characters are on foot. There’s one person on a horse, and a couple of people off-camera in some kind of armor.

I considered that this area might be the new part of Essos that Drogon had flown Dany to, particularly considering the side-by-side photo comparison above, but again, the lack of horses and lack of any sort of stand-in for a dragon convinced me otherwise. (Though I’m not thinking they would have the flame thrower rig on the 40′ boom every time they need to have Drogon show up—and that’s assuming that Drogon hasn’t decided to go for a glide and leave Dany to cope.) I know the khalasar is digitally enhanced and all, but there have to be at least a few riders, not just one person multiplied times 1000.

Another thought: this could perhaps be Jorah and Daario tracking Dany, and finding her ring. But again—shouldn’t there be more than one person on a horse?  (And who are all the extras? Did Tyrion send them with an entourage?)

Do we have other theories?
