The Beauty of the Snow: An Elegy for Jon Snow

Season 5 of Game of Thrones featured plenty of impactful moments, but one stands out among all the rest: the assassination of Jon Snow by the cowards Alliser Thorne and Olly.

Jon Snow was betrayed by his men, his brothers in The Night’s Watch, and regardless of whether he’ll return for Season 6, Jon Snow is dead. Just in case you’ve forgotten that fact, here’s a

fun

horribly too-soon reminder.

Well, that wound has most certainly not healed…I’m sorry. So, what would be the perfect follow-up to one of the most sad and tragic deaths on Game of Thrones? Well, I’m glad you asked, because YouTuber Ayon Mezza has written an original poem about the 998th Lord Commander. Some of it’s set to music, and some is spoken out loud. It’s a beautiful and ethereal homage to the Bastard of Winterfell, the man who knew nothing and yet everything all at once—Jon Snow.

The Beauty of the Snow — Elegy for Jon Snow

Okay, I know what you’re probably thinking: “This guy takes Game of Thrones waaaaay too seriously and obviously has some sort of weird fixation on Jon Snow.” However, I think you should put the snark aside, and just enjoy the poetic nature of this homage. It’s clear that Ayon Mezza put a lot of work into this, and his voice is actually quite soothing. The heartfelt words and auto-tuned (I’m assuming) vocals make this video a must-see for any fan of Game of Thrones, and fans of Jon Snow in particular. #JonSnow4Lyf
