Avatar: The Last Airbender gets the Game of Thrones treatment

Like Ramin Djawadi’s excellent opening theme for Game of Thrones, which sees a new cover version released basically every week, the visual representation of Westeros that runs alongside that musical composition is honored in a wide variety of ways, providing a Thrones-ified look at some of your favorite sci-fi/fantasy franchises. And now the time has come for Avatar: The Las Airbender to receive that treatment. The Nickelodeon animated series just got a little more epic thanks to this creation of Ryan J. Ramsey.

Ramsey does a nice job of capturing the clockwork toy feeling of the original as he shows us around Aang and company’s world. The video features the most memorable locations from the show, including Aang, Katara, and Sokka’s starting point in the Southern Water Tribe, the Earth Kingdom (where a significant portion of Season 2’s back half takes place), and of course, the Fire Nation, because everything changed when the Fire Nation attackedOnly Azor Ahai, master of all four elements, could stop them. But when the world needed him most… he was stabbed to death by the Maiden of Tarth.

Ahem. I’m sorry. I don’t know what came over me just then. Ramsey’s got a demo reel of his other work over on his website.

Also, while we’re vaguely on the subject, here’s a bird whistling the Game of Thrones theme. Talented bird.
