With filming in Girona and the Castell de Santa Florentina now well and truly over, shooting for Game of Thrones Season 6 heads next to Bardenas Reales Natural Park in the province of Navarra. Though this is an area that hasn’t undergone a lot of preparation in terms of fabricating sets, some props have arrived ahead of filming, which begins in that region tomorrow.

According to the Diario de Navarra, crew only began setting up in earnest on Friday. Los Siete Reinos has the number of extras who will be on hand confirmed for Monday. Curiously, they do not mention Emilia Clarke being in the area, or in fact, any rumors of A list actors at all. With only a few days of planned filming in this area, it may be that a lot of what they are filming are scenes of extras, without much, or any, filming of the major stars of the show. If that turns out to be true, it would be a disappointment. (It might also explain why the production hasn’t put in a lot of advanced work to the area.) Still, we’ll keep our hopes up and our eyes peeled.

Meanwhile, work continues in Peñíscola, where officials are planning an inspection of the Castillo de Peñíscola, where the Plaza de Armas filming area is located, to make sure the show is not affecting any part of the cultural heritage site. According to Todo Peñíscola, the area welcomes having the historical castle featured as part of the show, since the resulting bump in Game of Thrones tourism that comes with it is expected to be massive.  Levante El Mercantil Valenciano also reports that the Plaza de Santa Maria has been completely cleared out and ready for whatever set is being planned to go in next week.
