See more of the teeming masses of extras in Meereen

Production continues apace in Peñíscola, which will stand in for Meereen on Game of Thrones Season 6. The Peñíscola photoblog has a great new video it’s made to honor the 300 extras who have participated in the shooting thus far. According to the photoblog, the extras are “the real stars of the series.”

Interestingly, the blurb accompanying the video forecasts that the scenes shot in Peñíscola may not appear until mid-May, in the back half of the season. That means that we might not get a look at the Meereenese masses until later in the year. The photoblog may just be guessing here, or it may know something we don’t.

Meanwhile, the photoblog also has quite a few fun photos of those masses, plus some other sites around the city.

The Targaryen banner still flies in Meereen, so the people opposed to Dany’s rule haven’t been able to topple her regime in her absence, at least not for this scene. How long can she be gone before things start to sour, though?

What are these Meereenese peasants doing with this weird network of ropes? I’m at a bit of a loss.

There’s smoke in the air as a crowd of Meereenese citizens gather to watch what I’m hoping is an innocent barbeque.

Tyrion and Varys, walking the city walls and plotting plots. It’s just like old times.

The Unsullied march through Meereen, hopefully keeping the peace.

This shot actually has nothing to do with Game of Thrones. It’s from a parade honoring Peñíscola’s Moorish history. Between the parades and the Game of Thrones extras, the city just must be full to bursting with people in costume. I wonder if any ever wander into each other’s camps unnoticed.
