Fires, summits, and celebrations: Big Season 6 Spoilers Coming Out of Almería

Interesting things are coming out of El Chorrillo Sierra Alhamilla, the first Game of Thrones shooting location in Almería. We learned a few things about those night shoots we’ve been seeing, and what they will culminate in. We also got an explanation for what The Daily Mail saw, have word of what is happening on the Brotastic Adventures of Daario and Jorah, and perhaps a clue as to how Dany will rise to power once again.

It’s spoilers upon spoilers with spoilery pictures all the way on down, you guys. If you’re ready, let’s do this thing.

IT’S PYRO TIME.

In these photos, published by Ideal.es, we can see the aftermath of the main hut having been burnt to the ground. I’m guessing that there were quite a few deaths that occurred here as well. But there’s one person who will likely walk right out of those flames, unscathed. And if it goes anything like the last time, it will most likely be to the awe and worship of the Dothraki hordes who witness it: Daenerys, the Unburnt.

One thing we do *not* know at this time. Who started the fire? I mean, we all know it’s been burning since Planetos has been turning. But is this a rescue attempt by that lazy Drogon, who has probably been having a dragon nap this whole time, only to wake up and go pull his mother’s fat out of the frying pan and into the fire once again? (I’m sure after a while he’s going to feel like that’s getting old.) A dragon attack could also inspire shock and awe in the Dothraki, separate and apart from any fire-resistance on Dany’s part. Or is Dany left to her own fire creation devices, and has to start it herself?

(ETA: It occurs to me that, in the event that Dany steps unscathed from a fire in Season 6, and if our semi-wild theories on Jon Snow perhaps doing the same with his own funeral pyre up at the Wall are at all correct, this is going to be fire-resistant season.)

Here’s a photo tweeted by U.S. ambassador to Spain James Costos that may have caught fire in progress, if all that orange lighting is any indication. Ambassador Costos let slip in a tweet yesterday that these scenes are being directed by Daniel Daniel Sackheim, which puts them in episodes 3 and/or 4.

Another way it could start: via Daario and Jorah. According to Los Siete Reinos, one of the scenes filmed along with the fire includes the two of them laying on a hilltop, looking down at the captured prisoner Dany as she is brought to the village, and debating how exactly this rescue should go.

Other spoilers from L7R answer the question we’ve been pondering since day before yesterday, when The Daily Mail thought it saw Khal Drogo on set. There will be a meeting of the Khals here in the Dothraki camp—Khals from many different khalasars arrive and have a summit. We’re not sure if this is due to Dany and her Khaleesi claims, or perhaps it’s because she’s trying to get the Dothraki to follow her? Or if this was just a regularly scheduled summit meeting, kind of like the G7 meeting at the United Nations, that happens like clockwork? We’ll have to wait to find out. Either way, whoever it was The Daily Mail saw could indeed be a Khal arriving for the summit, just not Drogo.

L7R goes on to report that there is a huge celebration scene that was filmed. Celebration of what? Is this just the usual over-the-top party time that we see when Khals get together, and everyone tries to drink each other under the table? Or could this be another Dothraki Wedding? Might Dany get married again to another Khal in order to bring the tribes together under her rule? Or perhaps forced into marriage again? (That’d be a very good reason to start setting some fires.)

Also of note: L7R reports that the filming that is taking place around October 16th-17th will have a lot of extras dressed as slaves as part of the shoot, suggesting they’ll be filming stuff for Meereen. (Or perhaps another slave city?) That’s very interesting for another reason as well—we never had confirmation of which area on the docket would be shooting during the period from October 15-17th. Our next confirmed filming dates in Almería after El Chorrillo are the 18th-19th at the Mesa Roldán.  So which filming location is this for?

And finally, Emilia Clarke posted a blurb and picture to her Instagram account in praise of the handmade shoes the costume department made for her this season. Pass it on.
