Celebrity roundup: Charles Dance is a vampire (again), and Sophie Turner hosts a web series

Halloween is approaching, so this celebrity roundup is creepy-themed. Well, most of it is.

Charles Dance has played villainous roles for the length of his long career, and the role of Tywin Lannister fit it neatly besides many of his other parts. Since leaving Game of Thrones, Dance made an impression in last year’s Dracula Untold as Master Vampire, the vampire who turned Vlad the Impaler into a creature of the night. That’s a picture of him up above, looking seriously unwell.

That wasn’t the first time Dance had played a vampire, either. He also played a vampire elder named Thomas in 2012’s Underworld: Awakening, and Digital Spy reports that he’ll be returning to that role in Underworld 5. I’m sure Dance’s commanding screen presence makes him an excellent monster, but it’d be a shame if he got pigeon-holed into “Old Vampire” when doing big Hollywood movies.

Next, Neil Marshall (the director of Season 2’s “Blackwater” and Season 4’s “Watchers on the Wall”) is contributing a short film to a horror anthology called Tales of Halloween. His entry is about a pumpkin that kills people. See his monster in action around the 1:02 mark in this trailer.

Also, The A.V. Club has a great interview with Marshall where the director reminisces about all the brutal deaths he’s committed to film. There are sections on the wildfire in “Blackwater” and the giant who kills a guy on the Wall with a giant arrow in “Watchers on the Wall.”

Finally, in the non-spooky corner of this roundup, Sophie Turner will host a 10-part web series about the power of social media for The Huffington Post and AOL. “Social media has amplified the voice for my generation around the world and changed the way that we communicate,” she said. “I am a huge advocate of social media and thrilled to be given the opportunity to delve deep into its influence and impact on society at large.”

The series is called #Powershift, and for Turner’s sake we hope it’s a success. Now here’s video of that giant from Watchers on the Wall shooting a dude with an arrow from 700 feet below him.
