Lena Headey Reads “The Bachelor” Insults As Queen Cersei
By Ani Bundel
Game of Thrones Season 6 might be the 2016 release we’re revving up for here at WiC, but with three long months until the show debuts, the actors and actresses are still focusing on promoting their off-season projects. Lena Headey, for instance, is starring alongside Downton Abbey‘s Lily James and Doctor Who‘s Matt Smith in Pride + Prejudice + Zombies, which is arriving in theaters on February 5th. She was on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night, ostensibly to promote the upcoming movie. But of course, as always, all anyone wanted to talk about was Game of Thrones.
This being Jimmy Kimmel Live, Kimmel couldn’t just ask her about Thrones. Instead, he came up with a game that not only emphasized Lena Headey’s major role in the TV show, but neatly tied it back to one of his network’s other major properties: The Bachelor. (I’ve been very impressed with Kimmel’s synergy work lately, from the Captain America trailer drop, the well placed Star Wars tie-ins, and now finding ways to link reality shows that should have been put out to pasture ages ago to the biggest show on the planet.) His idea? Have Headey read aloud the catty comments made by the female contestants on The Bachelor as Cersei Lannister, complete with goblet of wine.
Personally, I don’t think these are all that up to Cersei’s standards. Certainly every single last one of them would wither before Margaery and her well-placed observations about Cersei’s day-drinking.
In another segment, Headey recalls filming the Walk of Shame scene in the Season 5 finale while she was pregnant with her second child. She also discusses some of the unfortunate side effects of having small children, who tend to bring home germs and bugs of all kinds.
Note that Headey outright admits that a body double was used during the Walk of Shame scene because she wasn’t comfortable being nude to that extent on TV. Good for her.
