Buy doodles from Game of Thrones stars for charity
By Dan Selcke
Tomorrow, February 5, is Epilepsy Action’s National Doodle Day, and you know what that means: you can purchase doodles drawn by celebrities, including Game of Thrones stars!
Okay, maybe you didn’t know that, but it’s true. Every year, Epilepsy Action—a charity that raises money to support the 600,000 people living with epilepsy in the U.K.—collects doodles from celebrities and auctions them off. This year, it’ll have two from Game of Thrones actors Jerome Flynn (Bronn) and Julian Glover (Grand Maester Pycelle). Here’s Flynn’s:
It’s hard to imagine Bronn drawing something so sweet, but Flynn was once part of a British pop duo that had a hit with a cover of the incredibly saccharine “Unchained Melody,” so it makes perfect sense coming from him.
Here’s Glover’s doodle, which seems to be a self-portrait.
Because I spend way too much time thinking about Game of Thrones, I can’t help but read Glover’s note—”Julian Glover out of work again”—and wonder if it foretells bad things for Pycelle. Is Glover just saying he’s out of work while he waits for filming to begin on Game of Thrones Season 7, or is Season 6 the year Pycelle joins the long list of characters who have passed on? Book-readers probably already have an idea about that, but we can’t know for sure until the season is over.
These and other doodles (by the likes of Eddie Redmayne, Bill Nighy, and more) will up for auction through eBay starting tomorrow, February 5. There are other ways to get involved, too. For example, Epilepsy Action invites you to make your own doodle, take a picture with it, and donate £3 by texting it to a certain number. Or if you’re not in the mood to get artistic, you can skip the middle steps and just donate online.
