Game of Thrones fans, rejoice! Ice & Fire Con, which has been named one of the world’s top ten nerdiest vacation destinations, is coming back soon. What makes this Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones convention stand out—to us, anyway—is that its run by one of our own. As some of you know, WiCnet writer Ani Bundel runs a Harry Potter fansite called Wizards and Whatnot. One of the staff writers there, Tara Lynne, is in charge of Ice & Fire Con. Here’s what fans need to know:

"Ice & Fire Con is an annual convention themed around George R. R. Martin’s Song of Ice & Fire series. It was the first convention of this kind in the US, and remains the only convention where you can spend a weekend participating in activities that are themed solely around Song of Ice & Fire/Game of Thrones."

"Our convention was founded in September 2012 by three fans who lamented the lack of ASOIAF/GoT programming at mainstream conventions. The first Ice & Fire Con was held in April 2013 at Ravenwood Castle in New Plymouth, Ohio, and it was such a success that it became an annual event. The convention has grown steadily in its first three years, so for our fourth year (2016) we are relocating to Mountain Lake Lodge in Pembroke, Virginia. Ice & Fire Con is an event for those age 18 and up.***PLEASE NOTE THAT ICE & FIRE CON IS AN ALL-SPOILER CONVENTION***"

The con starts just two days before the Game of Thrones Season 6 premiere. What better way to celebrate the new season than by dressing up like your favorite character and pretending to bashing someone’s skull in, or else just hanging out with a few hundred other Song of Ice and Fire fans and glorying in the details of the series? Sounds like some good old fashioned Westerosi fun. If you are interested in attending this year’s Ice & Fire con, then head on over to their shop page and purchase your tickets now!

Tara Lynne is also holding a Song of Ice & Fire/Game of Thrones meetup this coming Saturday at C2E2 in Chicago, so if you’re the area and want to know more, feel free to hit her up there.
