Game of Thrones fan theories are like Donald Trump: they are often always wrong, and yet somehow still remain hugely popular. You’ve probably seen some of the more popular theories out there: R+L=J, Cleganebowl, and Southron Ambitions…but did you ever hear about Cersei being Jon Snow’s mother? Some of the cast members on Game of Thrones were interviewed by MTV News and asked about their favorite fan theories. Check it out.
I love Maisie Williams’ take on the Bran-warging-into-a-dragon theory, even pointing to the Season 5 poster to make her point. Also, Dean-Charles Chapman (Tommen) and Ian Beattie (Meryn Trant) seem to have a really good chemistry in these interviews. Too bad they weren’t able to explore it on the show.
Here’s a thought: why does Alfie Allen always seem to dodge every question asked of him? And then there’s the nail in the coffin for all those Bolt On! theory followers. Take off your tinfoil hats and burn them, because Michael McElhatton just squashed the rumor that Roose Bolton is, in fact, a vampire.
Daniel Portman (Pod) and John Bradley-West (Sam) both poke fun at theories. I’ll have you know, Mr. West, that I subscribe to the idea that David Benioff was teasing us with his polo shirt. Finally, wouldn’t it be a lark if Stannis were in fact alive and well on Game of Thrones? Don’t Liam Cunningham and Carice van Houten seem like they’re protesting to much in this interview? But I digress.
Meanwhile, Liam Cunngingham had his own sit-down with Rolling Stone where he discusses various fan theories. A sample: “Jon Snow and Daenerys are brother and sister. I think that’s bulls**t.” Nice and straightforward. Cunningham seems very up on some aspects of the mythology—he’s very knowledgable about dragonglass, for example, but admits he hasn’t read a page of the books. He does say, however, that George R.R. Martin once told him a big secret about what’s in store, although of course he doesn’t revel it to Rolling Stone.
Next, we have the cast of Game of Thrones offering fans a chance to attend the Game of Thrones Season 6 world premiere:
Head over to Omaze to enter. Here’s some information on the IRC (International Rescue Committee).
"The International Rescue Committee responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises by restoring safety, health, education, economic well being, and power to people whose lives have been devastated by conflict and disaster. The IRC is the only international relief agency responding on all fronts to the refugee crisis in Europe and the Middle East: inside war-torn Syria, in neighboring host countries, in Greece and Serbia where refugees enter Europe, and in the United States where they resettle refugees from around the world."
This is an amazing cause, and a great chance for everyone—not just Game of Thrones fans—to give back and get involved with people who truly need help. You can enter here. The more you donate, the better your chances of winning the grand prize. So if you want to rub elbows with the cast of Game of Thrones, take photos, see the premiere before anyone else, have your flight and hotel paid for, then get involved and donate now.
