Video interview bonanza: Emilia Clarke, Alfie Allen, Iain Glen, and more talk Season 6

Emilia Clarke was the latest Game of Thrones cast member to stop by Conan, and while she didn’t debut a new clip from Season 6, she did hit on some hop topics, including the old debate about whether there should be more male nudity on the show. Clarke is all for it, but there’s a complication.

Next, Clarke discussed how, thanks to her wigs and elaborate costumes, she’s afforded a degree of real-life anonymity not granted to, say, Kit Harington. There’s just no mistaking Jon Snow’s haircut, but I’m guessing Clarke’s natural hair throws people off.

So the sixth season of the show is about to begin, and talk show hosts are still calling Daenerys “Khaleesi.” If it hasn’t stopped by now, it’s gonna keep going through to the end. Also, I hate to be that nit-picky fan, but technically, Margaery’s wedding to Tommen went off without a hitch, so not every wedding on the show is a disaster.

And finally, Conan reads off Daenerys Targaryen’s many titles, but he doesn’t get far before things go awry.

Elsewhere, OCS TV has video of Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy) had Daniel Portman (Podrick Payne) teasing their characters’ arcs in Season 6.

Allen’s tease, about a scene that’s key to Theon’s journey, is especially interesting. “I won’t go into specifics, but considering it’s a 30-second scene, it’s pretty amazing what they’ve done with the environment itself.” Also, Pod’s becoming a man. Good for him.

OCS also posted video of Iwan Rheon (Ramsay Bolton) and Michael McElhatton (Roose Bolton) praising the writing for the new season…

…and of Liam Cunningham (Davos) and Carice van Houten (Melisandre) talking about how their characters are dealing with the complete collapse of their worlds. As usual, Cunningham is all kinds of amusing.

Heading back to Essos, Magic Radio caught up with Iain Glen (Jorah Mormont) at the premiere of his new movie, Eye in the Sky. He had some interesting things to say about where the show is going, as does his Eye in the Sky castmate Helen Mirren, who at one point wanted a role on the show.

Warning: what you’re about to see may contain SPOILERS.

First of all, had the show included the character, I maintain that Mirren would have been great for the role of Barbrey Dustin, but no matter. It’s interesting how much both actors talk about the impending end of the show. This fits with recent comments from Benioff and Weiss about wrapping up the series. The endgame really does seem to be on the way.

Also, Glen talks about the scripts for “the season to come,” by which he means Season 7. If he’s waiting to receive the scripts for Season 7, I imagine that Jorah survives Season 6, but then Glen says he’s hoping his character is “still alive.” That seems logically inconsistent. Maybe Glen realized he slipped up and tried to cover his tracks?

We’ll find out more about what happens to Jorah come April 24, when Game of Thrones Season 6 debuts on HBO.
