Last week, Game of Thrones continued to serve up surprises with “Home.” Tyrion made friends with dragons. Roose Bolton died at the ends of his crazy son. And most importantly, Jon Snow came back from the dead after months of speculation. The show had already hit the ground running with “The Red Woman,” so let’s hope the momentum continues with the third episode of the season: “Oathbreaker.”
The biggest question fans have is what Jon will do now that he’s, y’know, alive. HBO’s official synopsis doesn’t offer many clues:
"Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) meets her future. Bran meets the past. Tommen confronts the High Sparrow (Jonathan Pryce). Arya (Maisie Williams) trains to be No One. Varys (Conleth Hill) finds an answer. Ramsay gets a gift."
It does tell us some important information, though. For one thing, it tells us that we’ll check back in with Daenerys, and the new khalasar she’s traveling with, after she didn’t appear in “Home.” Also, after showing a bit of backbone in the last episode, Tommen may get serious with the High Sparrow. Tommen’s been pretty hands-off as a king, but he is a lovesick teenager, and they can do some crazy things sometimes.
HBO’s official trailer for “Oathbreaker” gives us a couple more glimpses of what’s to come:
We get a better look at what Jon will be up to in this trailer. Apparently, some of the people at Castle Black think he’s a god now. What, they’ve never seen a naked man come back from the dead before?
If you want specifics, there are major spoilers floating around on the internet, and you can look at them if it pleases you (there also used to be a video detailing exactly what happens in this episode, but it’s been removed—you can read about it in the comments here). But if you find out something you didn’t want to know ahead of time, it’s on you.
