Humor: SNL Stages Jon Snow’s Resurrection Plus An Epic Rap Battle

How does a show know when its permeated every single last corner of pop culture? When cultural mainstay Saturday Night Live parodies the climactic scene from its most recent episode.

Last night, SNL restaged the resurrection of Jon Snow for all and sundry who might have somehow missed it the first time…with a few slight alterations, of course.

Brie Larson was the week’s guest star—she and Cecily Strong are the random “Greek chorus” of women who have no business being there—a fun way around the lack of female characters in the scene.

“Let’s wake him up and pop him on a horse and go fight someone or something!”

“Because we only get 10 hours a year, people, and we spent two in this room.”

The best part is when Jon Snow (Pete Davidson) finally wakes up and what he really wants….is to go see Bran. BOOOORING! (Actually Bran isn’t boring this season, but I’ve heard many show-only fans complain about how dull his storyline is.)

Next up, Epic Rap Battles of History imagines how a fight between OG Fantasy writer J.R.R. Tolkien and New School and Initial Imitator George R.R. Martin would go.

"Martin: “You Hobbit Hole Heroes can’t handle my throne!”Tolkien: “You’re a pirate, you even stole my R.R.!”"

Who won? Personally I’ve leaning towards Tolkien….

And finally, this isn’t exactly humor, but it’s funny to me. In merchandising, they now make Game of Thrones-embossed rolling pins. Because what Westeros needs now is sugar cookies. (Well, I’ll bet Jon Snow is hungry and probably needs to put on a little weight after all that resurrecting, so yeah. Sure.)

Perfect for Mother’s Day…or not.
