Jason Momoa Is Proud of His “Son” Drogon

Father’s Day in Westeros is weird, and came a little early this week. Apparently Jason Momoa (Khal Drogo), who has been making a show on social media this year of keeping tabs on his onscreen family, finally saw Drogon all grown up, and he was very moved by it.

Not that Drogon really could technically be considered Drogo’s son, unless you want to consider the possibility that it was the funeral pyre upon which his body burned that gave the fire the power that Dany needed to hatch those eggs. (And for the record, she did use them to decorate Drogo’s funeral pyre before she decided that a nice refreshing walk in the flames sounded like a fun evening’s activity.)

But be that as it may, perhaps it’s the fact that Dany named the largest and most favorite of her dragons after Drogo that Momoa feels the dragon is spiritually his son. (Hey, we’ve seen odder families before!) And therefore, seeing him all grown up drove Momoa to post the following to Instagram.

"Dear DROGON:Wish we would have met. I think we have a lot in common. Unfortunately your mother killed me with a pillow. It’s hard to explain. But nevertheless I still love her even though she hangs out with lesser men than me. Watch her back trust, no one and Kill’m All For me.Yours truly. KHAL muthafuckin DROGO"

“Unfortunately your mother killed me with a pillow” might be one of the best asides that Game of Thrones has not yet been able to work into a script. Note that Momoa has told Emilia Clarke in other Instagram posts (posts that have since been deleted) that he would “see you soon” and “see you in Ireland.” That could mean he’s coming for a visit or filming something in the area, but if means Momoa will have a part in Game of Thrones Season 7, he can finally have that heart-to-heart with his fire-breathing son.

But just in case you were worried it was only Drogon that Momoa was interested in seeing again, rest assumed, he’s pretty proud of his ex-wife too.

As long as we’re talking about former cast members, Charles Dance (Tywin Lannister) talked to Express about his time on the show, and while he didn’t say Tywin was going to make like so many other characters this past season and return to Game of Thrones, he did admit that “anything is possible.”

"I know nothing about it and neither does anybody else. If they do, they don’t tell you."

We’ll just put him down as a maybe-probably not.

Another character who could potentially come back: Ilyn Payne, the King’s Landing executioner. Actor and musician Wilko Johnson played Payne for the first two seasons of Game of Thrones, but had to leave after he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He beat the disease, but hasn’t been brought back onto the show, and some of the things the character did in the books—accompanying Jaime Lannister to the Riverlands, for instance—have been taken up by Bronn.

Still, Ilyn Payne is alive on the show, and according to an interview with NME, Johnson would love to come back. “I’d certainly love to go back to Game Of Thrones,” he said. “It was so much fun, and my character is still alive, so it’s certainly possible.” It’s not too late, Game of Thrones.
