Kit Harington to play villain in new Call of Duty game, contemplates end of Game of Thrones

Kit Harington is an actor who appears in many mediums. He’s been in movies (Pompeii, Testament of Youth), plays (Doctor Faustus), and on TV (Game of Something or Other). He’s also been in videogames—he voiced Jon Snow in the popular Telltale Games series—and he’s going back to that well with a role in the upcoming Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, out this November.
The first-person shooter Call of Duty games are among the most popular videogames around. Harington, stepping a little outside his area of expertise, will play a villain. Taylor Kurosaki, the narrative director at Infinity Ward, the game’s developer, described what we can expect:
"Kit is an amazing talent, and the consummate pro. Our story is about an epic showdown of opposing forces, and Kit immersed himself into the role and truly became the embodiment of the enemy, the Settlement Defense Front. We can’t wait for fans to see Kit play an entirely different kind of character."
Harington’s scenes were directed by Snatch director Guy Ritchie, who’s worked in the franchise before. “It meant a lot to us to develop the role into everything it could be,” said Dave Stohl, Infinity Ward’s studio head. “We’re excited about the performance Kit delivered and can’t wait to get it out to the public.”
This also confirms that the video posted by Mashable a few days ago, of Harington working with a motion capture rig, did indeed involve him filming scenes for Infinite Warfare.
Elsewhere, Harington talked about how much he’s going to miss Game of Thrones when it ends in two (shortened) seasons. “We’re a big family now, we’re very very close,” he said of the cast and crew. “I’ll be very sad when it ends, it’s been a huge part of my twenties and it’s going to be leaving a huge gaping hole when it finishes.”
"But, before that happens we’ve got a big old finale of episodes and I can’t wait to do them, if I’m in them!"
Somehow we doubt the show is going to kill Jon Snow again so soon after the last time, but we’ll be looking forward to whatever those “big old finale of episodes” bring.
