Iwan Rheon (Ramsay Bolton) has been looking forward to battling Jon Snow for years

SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY! The Battle of the Bastards, the Showdown Snowbowl, the battle for Control of the North and who gets the privilege of being mowed down by White Walker zombie wights is ON! Entertainment Weekly has been hyping this Sunday’s major battle for days now, including by posting interviews with director Miguel Sapochnik and tabulations of the resources it took to film the fight. Today, it brings us a talk with Iwan Rheon, who plays Ramsay Bolton (C’mon everybody: BOOOOO! HISSSSS!). Rhoen sat down to discuss the oncoming storm.
And it turns out, the actor has been hoping for a showdown with Jon Snow, the Face of Heroism (Pragmatic Edition*) for years.
*The Face of Heroism (Idealistic Edition) failed to make it out of Season 5 alive.
"Anyone who has asked me, ‘Who would you like Ramsay to meet?’ My answer has always been, ‘Jon Snow.’ He’s the antithesis of Ramsay. They’re almost a yin and a yang. They both come from such a similar place yet they’re so different. And even though they’re enemies, they’ve both risen so far as bastards, which is almost incomprehensible, and now they’re both here facing each other. They couldn’t be any more different, yet more similar."
Well, isn’t that how this always works in fantasy? Despite the fact that the show loves to subvert tropes, at the end of the day, good versus evil is what we’re here to see. And Ramsay Bolton is as dark an evil as we’ve had on this show, with little shading to show him as a good guy in any way—he even fed the body of the woman he loves to the dogs. We can only hope that this weekend finds Sansa Stark doing the same to Ramsay’s body after the forces of good, or as good as we really get on this show, have conquered.
