“Battle of the Bastards” is a full hour long, which is notable given that the majority of it will take place in one location: the North. As the title implies, “Battle of the Bastards” will depict the showdown between Jon Snow and Ramsay Bolton, both of whom lead sizable armies. According to Game of Thrones showrunner Dan Weiss, the episode will be full of action, and will offer “something fresh that you don’t see on TV and movies very often.”
HBO is being stingy with the details, though. Here’s the official description:
"Terms of surrender are rejected and accepted."
Based on the official images the network has released, “Battle of the Bastards” will take a “shock and awe” approach. Just look at some of these pictures:
The scale here is pretty impressive. The trailer gives us more of an idea of what to expect.
Keep in mind, though, that even though the episode will feature a big battle, there will be smaller dramas, too. For example, it looks like Davos will finally discover what happened to Shireen last season.
That can’t be good news for Melisandre, who will also be counseling Jon Snow about his post-death existence.
Above, we said that the majority of the episode will take place in the North, but according to one article, at least a little of it may take place in Meereen. We’ll see how that shakes down soon enough.
What do you hope will happen in “Battle of the Bastards?” What do you dread? We’re far into the season, which means that major characters could very well die. That’s gotta be making the fans nervous.
Talk about anything and everything having to do with the episode here, both before and during the actual show. We’ll be updating the site with reactions to big moments as the episode goes on, and follow up with longer recaps a bit later.
