Tom Baker has been a part of Doctor Who Magazine since its premiere October 1979 issue, back when it was Doctor Who Weekly. The 500th issue of the publication was obviously a big deal. One particularly intriguing part was when Fourth Doctor, Tom Baker, claimed that his interview in that issue would be his last. In a bluntly morbid statement, he said the following:
"“I’ve done a lot of interviews and I dare say that there might be another reason, perhaps a sad one, why you might mention me again in the magazine. But your readers know all my stories by now, or half of them, so it seems that this might be me bowing out from the spotlight . . .Well, I’ll be dead quite soon.”"
While it is unclear whether or not Baker is actually aware of his impending demise in the near future, this was technically only the first half of his last interview. The second was published in the following issue, the 501st. It is entirely devoted to him, and is chock full of interview-y goodness with the actor.

So, is this his final interview, or will he go on to give more? Does he have anything left to tell? Whatever the case, we certainly hope that he is in good health and will continue to thrive for many years to come.
A collectable souvenir edition of the 501st issue of Doctor Who Magazine was released on June 30th. It comes in a polybag with four art cards, two classic mini-posters, and a multi-Doctor poster.
