Take the Black Podcast: Game of Thrones Season 6 Review, Part 1

facebooktwitterreddit

Welcome back to another fun and fantastic week of Take the BlackWinter is Coming’s official Game of Thrones podcastThis week we begin to pick apart everything we loved and hated about Game of Thrones Season 6. We start our journey with Episode 601, “The Red Woman,” and two hours later, we end on Episode 605, “The Door.”

This week’s topics include:

  • How Isis wants to start a petition to call Jon “Sexy Jesus” since he’s the one that rose from the dead.
  • We ask the question: Why reveal that Melisandre was so old when it’s never mentioned again during the season?
  • Oh, and speaking of Red Priestess, what the f**k happened to Kinvara?
  • We discuss our mutual appreciation for the continuity in Game of Thrones (e.g. Thoros of Myr’s ability to bring Beric Dondarrion back to life after giving up on his religion, compared to the same crisis of faith Melisandre went through right before she brought back Jon).
  • Why wasn’t the viewing audience allowed to see the reaction on Sansa’s face when Jon tells her of his death and rebirth? Or Jon’s face when Sansa tells him of the abuse she suffered by Ramsay’s hand?
  • We talk about Dany’s fiery destruction of the temple in Vaes Dothrak. Most of us loved it, but Corey Smith is that one guy in every group of friends who has to pick everything apart…and so he does. But we still love him.
  • And finally, we discuss “The Door,” and all those senseless deaths, all because Bran surfed the weirwood.net without adult supervision. Rest in Peace, Summer and Hodor. You are gone but never forgotten.

As usual, Take the Black leans heavily on the NSFW side (beware the F-bombs). And hey, since we’ve all seen Season 6, there aren’t any spoilers to worry about, so you Unsullied listeners can listen without fear.
