Humor: Game of Thrones meets Star Wars and Suicide Squad, plus the best gift a fan could get

Welcome to another Game of Thrones-themed humor roundup: mashup edition! Season 6 is over, but the internet is far from through with it.

First off, if you thought Cersei Lannister looked like a Dark Lord of the Sith when taking her place on the Iron Throne towards the end of “The Winds of Winter,” you were not alone. YouTuber Darth Blender, who specializes in mashups, put together this video comparing the events of Game of Thrones Season 6 to those in the Star Wars saga. Watch it and see if you’re convinced.

This one’s simpler. YouTuber VG934 paid homage to the first, tremendously successful trailer for Warner Bros.’ upcoming Suicide Squad movie (the one scored to Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody”) by splicing in scenes from Game of Thrones. Consider it a trailer for Seasons 7 and 8.

There’s not much to say other than: that was really well-done. YouTube has really opened up a new horizon for amateur editors, hasn’t it?

Finally, in non-mashup news, Northern Irish farmer Sam Duncan has seen a lot of interest from American Game of Thrones fans after he put a stretch of woodland near Ballyclare up for sale. Why? Because that particular stretch of land was used to film a scene from Game of Thrones Season 3, the bit from “Dark Wings, Dark Words” where Jaime and Brienne run into a farmer on their way to King’s Landing. Jaime wants Brienne to kill the farmer, but she refuses. This ends up being a bad idea, since the farmer narcs on the pair to Bolton men, who capture both of them and cut off Jaime’s hand. Good times.

“It was like the circus coming to town,” Duncan said of the filming. “t was amazing.”

"There would have been 50 vehicles up there. There wasn’t enough room – they used a church car park in Ballynure to put the crew up there for a few days."

“This piece of land is unique,” Duncan continued. “There’s nothing else in the world like it.”

The land is being sold through Fred Ashton at local firm Abbey Real Estate. If you’re so inclined, you can learn more from Sam at duncsamu@aol.com. Lord only knows how much it costs, but it would be roughly the coolest gift in the history of the word for a Game of Thrones fan.
