Among the list of things that the Twelfth Doctor would likely find ridiculous, Pokémon GO may be near the top. Nonetheless, a Doctor Who filming location is a prominent Pokémon area.
Cardiff Bay has quite the legacy in Doctor Who lore. It’s the shooting location of numerous episodes, as well as the upcoming spinoff Class, and the residence of Torchwood Three’s secret headquarters. Indeed, Cardiff Bay is place of pilgrimage for any Doctor Who fan looking to explore the iconic settings in the show’s history.
That is not the main reason, however, why people have been descending upon the area lately. Yes, there has been a great deal of excitement as both Class and Doctor Who have been filming there, but Cardiff Bay has also become quite the popular Pokémon GO spot, as it is crawling in the coveted creatures.

One has to wonder what the Doctor would think of all of this. While he may be happy that people are getting some exercise, he might find the idea of chasing invisible creatures with a ball to be ridiculous. Or, he may be concerned that this is an alien threat, and seek to remove those Pokémon from the area. He would save the Earth once again, but from what exactly?
It would also be a fun thought to imagine the Doctor wandering about with a smart phone, trying to capture these creatures to protect humanity, not understanding that this is a game. Even if he did realize this, what if he were to become hooked on it? Oh, the potential humor value would be great!
