Doctor Who returned to Newport, Wales to film for the upcoming Series Ten. The area has been used as a filming location for past episodes in the Whoniverse.
Earlier today, we posted an article regarding Cardiff Bay’s dual popularity with both Doctor Who and and Pokémon Go, alike. What many people do not realize, however, is that Cardiff Bay is not the only place in Wales where Doctor Who repeatedly films.
As someone who lives in the north eastern region of the United States, when I see or hear “Newport,” the first place that comes to mind is the state of Rhode Island. This is not, however, the location that we will be discussing in this article. Instead, we will set our sights on Newport, Wales — a little-known spot for the filming of various Doctor Who episodes. The South Wales Argus recently shared a piece on the return of Doctor who to the town to film for Series Ten. It features a video by Jessica Tan, in which part of the crew can be seen as Pearl Mackie, Peter Capaldi, and the TARDIS are filmed for a small segment of a scene on Fields Park Avenue.

As usual, Peter Capaldi spent part of his downtime interacting with fans. The Argus got quotes from both the actor and the crowd. Capaldi thinks that Newport “seems a very nice and pleasant place to film,” the process of which “has been good.” He elaborated by calling it “a little bit more relaxed” depending “on how popular you are.” It is unclear just how relaxed things were, considering how very popular both he and the Doctor Who franchise as a whole are. In any case, he hopes “that fans have had a great time seeing .”

The attending fans travelled from various point both near and far, the farthest of them from about one hundred and ninety miles away in Lincolnshire, England.
"Mushroom Deaton travelled with her husband and two sons from Heighington, Lincolnshire, and said: “We saw them filming in Cardiff and at Caerphilly Castle, but this has been really amazing, [Fields House is] a beautiful house to use."
