Doctor Who: Steven Moffat May or May Not Include Bill’s Intro Scene in Series Ten

According to Steven Moffat, the intro scene of the Doctor’s new companion, Bill, may or may not be included in an episode of Series Ten of Doctor Who.
When we first reported on the breaking news that Pearl Mackie would be playing the Doctor’s new companion, Bill, in the upcoming Series Ten of Doctor Who, we were unsure whether her introductory two minute scene would be part of an episode, or it was simply a standalone short. We soon learned that the clip, titled ‘Friend from the Future,’ was billed by the BBC as “an exclusive scene from a future episode.” Despite this, it seems that not only had the scene’s place in the show not yet been determined by the people who work on Doctor Who, but they still have yet to decide what to do with it. The following is a video of the scene, which was shot before production officially began for Series Ten.

According to an article by William Martin of CultBox, Steven Moffat recently told Doctor Who Magazine that his motivation for probably splicing the footage into an episode is his “pedantic” nature. He did also say, though, that there is “an absolutely possibility that [he] just won’t bother,” not wanting to get “too hung up on that sort of thing.” His attitude on the matter seems to be that it ultimately does not matter either way, citing “alternate universes and changed timelines” — unless, he acknowledges, there is an episode in which she encounters the Daleks, considering that she is introduced to them in the clip.
If, however, a picture posted almost two weeks ago to the official Doctor Who Instagram account shows the same set on which Bill first saw the Daleks, it could very well indicate that the footage will make the cut.
