Doctor Who Series Ten Rumored to Film in Vancouver in October

Cast and crew have been dashing around the map to film for Series Ten of Doctor Who, from Cardiff to Valencia to… Vancouver?

More from Winter is Coming

For the upcoming Series Ten, Doctor Who has been doing its fair share of filming in Cardiff, Wales, as is to be expected. The production also filmed in nearby Newport, Wales, as well as traveled to the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia, Spain to shoot an episode. Now, we have it on grapevine authority that Vancouver, Canada — known as part of the colloquial “Hollywood North” — will be added to the list of shooting locations.

According to an article by William Martin of CultBox, a couple of fans on Twitter — George Baker and Macauly Cairns — confirmed that Peter Capaldi revealed to them that Doctor Who will be filming in Vancouver in October for the second block of Series Ten. According to a reply from Lisa Blamm, however, Capaldi told her back in June that it would be Toronto. Of course, it is conceivable that both locations could be used.

The last time that Vancouver was used as a filming location for Doctor Who was in 1996 for the television movie starring Paul McGann as the Eighth Doctor. The entirety of the movie was filmed there. For all of the specific locations used around the city, head to Doctor Who: The Locations Guide and search for “Vancouver.”

Another connection that Doctor Who has to Vancouver is that director Rachel Talalay is a film professor at the University of British Columbia.
