Titan Comics: Doctor Who Third Doctor Comic Release Date
By David Hill
One of the more popular Doctors from the classic era of Doctor Who, the Third Doctor is set to make his comic book debut in the coming days.
Jon Pertwee’s incarnation of the Doctor still resonates amongst fans these days. One of the more popular of the classic Doctors, he lives on through his son dressing up in his distinctive outfit. While his son Sean may not be coming to Doctor Who to reprise his father’s role, those images made it feel as though Pertwee the elder was still with us.
And, in one aspect, he still is. Titan Comics has announced that they will be producing a series of comics based on the Third Doctor, giving him a new set of adventures and adding to their portfolio. The only question was – when will that series be released?

Well, the wait is almost over. The first issue featuring the Third Doctor, The Heralds of Destruction, will be available on Wednesday, September 14th. As is typically the case with Titan Comics, there will be several different variations for the cover. Not only will there be the five main variants, but there will be two retail exclusive covers for Forbidden Planet/Jetpack Comics and Diamond UK.
The storyline promises to be excellent as well, based on the crew involved. Paul Cornell, who wrote the Four Doctors series, is back to handle the Third Doctor’s adventures. In teaming up with Christopher Jones of Avengers fame, this series has the components to be excellent in both the plot and the graphics.
