All of the Doctors on Doctor Who have had adventures that we have not had the opportunity to witness. As such, Big Finish has released a new adventure for the First Doctor and his initial companions.

From the moment that we were introduced to Susan’s grandfather, through changing his companions, to his eventual regeneration, quite a few adventures with the First Doctor can be and have been witnessed. Aside from some specials and cameos over the decades, the time of this Doctor being depicted on television has long passed.
Yet, one has to imagine that the First Doctor, Susan, and her teachers Ian and Barbara, had many additional off-camera adventures that we have not seen. Their journeys through time and space, at the mercy of a TARDIS that did not always want to cooperate, had to be more than those on television. There are numerous written stories, but there is a lack of performance with that medium. Thankfully, there are also a good number of audio adventures.

Thanks to Big Finish, we are getting another in their recent release of a new story titled ‘The Age of Endurance,’ which is the first story in the third series of The Early Adventures range . Not only is Carole Ann Ford back as Susan, but William Russell has returned as Ian and the First Doctor, with Jemma Powell taking on the role of Barbara.
In what sounds to be quite the compelling adventure, the Doctor and his companions find themselves aboard a quiet spaceship, only to be met by a squadron of soldiers. Trapped in the middle of a complicated war, and with one of their own taken prisoner, they must engage in a tactical battle to survive.
